Vatican Gardens and Museums Tour
Nestled within Vatican City's 44 hectares is a verdant sanctuary known as the Vatican Gardens, or Giardini Vaticani. This serene spot serves as a personal retreat for popes to relax since it occupies one-third of the city’s area. Since 2014, visitors have had access to this exclusive garden that once only welcomed papal guests.
At your starting point, you'll receive help boarding a minibus before embarking on an exploration through carefully maintained lawns and impressive sculptures. Noteworthy fountains such as Fontana dell'Aquilone and Fontana della Galera are highlights of the tour. The Governor’s Palace is another must-see with its grand architecture fascinating visitors.
Within these gardens, you'll find attractions like the Grotta di Lourdes, an artificial cave inspired by its French counterpart, as well as the historic Casino of Pius IV—a 16th-century summer house designed by Pirro Ligorio. The tour also includes access to the Vatican Museum's opulent interiors and extensive art collection.
Make sure not to miss Michelangelo’s celebrated frescoes in the Sistine Chapel ceilings during your visit, adding a remarkable finish to this enriching experience in Rome.
