ーTokushima Prefectural Uzu-no-Michi WalkwayーUzu-no-Michi is a 450-meter-long walkway built within the bridge girder of the Onaruto Bridge, suspended 45 meters above the Naruto Strait. This thrilling path lets visitors walk above the sea and enjoy up-close views of the famous Naruto Whirlpools, which form when powerful tidal currents pass between the Seto Inland Sea and Kii Channel.These whirlpools, some reaching up to 20 meters in diameter, are among the largest in the world and occur only during specific tide times. Naruto also ranks among the world’s top three fastest tidal currents, with speeds exceeding 20 km/h during seasonal spring tides — also known as king tides — which happen during full and new moons year-round.
