Going Through the Motions

Take this opportunity to experience an authentic Cappadocian ceremony. This ancient Turkish ritual represents the mystical journey of man's spiritual ascent through love. Gaze at the performers' incredible whirling and wander into meditative bliss. Whirling dervish ceremonies, which began as a form of meditation in the 13th century by famous Sufi Muslim mystic and poet Jalaluddin Rumi, holds enormous spiritual signifance.

Engaging with the Narrative

There are several steps to this ceremony. The selam portion presents us with a story of humanity, usually consisting of 4 segments: the first selam conveys how humans come to terms with their status as created beings, the second selam embodies the rapture felt when confronted with God’s omnipotent power, the third a transformation of rapture at God’s power into love, and the fourth how humans return to serve. This performance appears to be a conversation with the cosmos. You will leave with an appreciation for the diverse intangible cultural heritages of our species.

With pick-up and drop-off taken care of by us, all you have to do is bring an open mind and a curious heart.
