Entering Vasco da Gama Aquarium gives you the feeling of getting onboard Yacht Amelia that belonged to the Portuguese royal family and sailed in the company of King Carlos I. With a strong historical heritage, the museum aquarium is dedicated to promoting the Portuguese aquatic life. One of the most notable exhibitions is housed in the Noble Hall or Great Hall - the rare zoological specimens from the private collection of Oceanographic Collection of King Carlos I. While Portuguese marine fauna is the star of the aquarium, you will also find several tropical and freshwaters fish, turtles, sea horse, molluscs, and other species from both hemispheres.
