What to bring

To get the most out of your visit, make sure to have headphones and a fully charged smartphone. Before arriving at Pena Palace & Park Tickets with Audio Guide in Lisbon, download your audio tour onto your device. Once booked, an email containing instructions for accessing and downloading your audio guide will be sent—check your spam folder if necessary.

Note that the audio tour requires either an Android (version 5.0 or later) or iOS smartphone. It is not compatible with Windows Phones, iPhone models older than 6, iPod Touch 6th generation or earlier, iPad 4th generation and below, first-generation iPad Airs, third-generation iPad Minis, or any versions prior.

What's not allowed

Private vehicles are prohibited from accessing this monument. We suggest using pedestrian trails or public transportation instead. Additionally, dogs are not permitted on the premises.

A complimentary audio guide is available in Portuguese, English, Spanish, or French. For optimal listening, bring headphones with you. It's important to enter Pena Palace at the assigned time slot; failure to do so may result in denied access. Please remember that entrance should be through the house tour entry rather than the main gate.

The journey from the complex’s primary entrance to the palace involves a short walk along a paved path with some elevation, taking approximately 30 minutes. Alternatively, you can use the shuttle bus within the area for direct transport to the palace entrance.

Expect an average wait time of about 15-20 minutes at the entrance/security checkpoint where your ticket will be scanned.

Note that parts of Pena Palace are currently undergoing restoration on window openings and certain facades, which may affect accessibility.

Parking options include lots in Sintra's historic center or peripheral areas. Limited parking is available near park entrances depending on visitor volume.

For public transport access, take bus number 434 from the Sintra Station to Pena Palace, a ride lasting between 15-20 minutes. The walking route can be quite steep and takes nearly an hour; hence it's not recommended.

Pena Palace ensures safety through timed entry tickets that allow sufficient time for visitors to explore key areas of interest within their allocated slot.
