At lunchtime, delight your taste buds with an array of dishes including katsu curry, katsudon, hamburger steak, sansai soba, and various udon options — all while taking in stunning winter scenery.
Encounter at Jigokudani Snow Monkey Park
Your next stop is the beautiful Jigokudani Snow Monkey Park. Follow a picturesque forest trail through snow-draped trees to reach this unique destination, where macaques enjoy natural hot springs in their winter habitat. Witness these charming monkeys as they bathe and frolic together — an experience that's both delightful and distinctive. Capture heartwarming moments of them grooming each other or splashing about before heading back towards Nagano Station through the snow-laden landscapes.
Day Tour Itinerary
The tour commences at 8:45 am from Nagano Station, where your guide will be ready near the Information Board opposite Shinkansen tickets gates. For those staying at Hotel Kokusai 21, pickups are available there at 8:20 am. The journey continues towards Shiga Kogen with potential stops for pickup at Yudanaka Station (9:30 am), Shibu Onsen (9:35 am), and Kanbayashi Onsen (9:40 am).
By 10:30 am, you'll reach Maruike Family Ski Park to engage in snow fun activities. During your time here, enjoy a lunch included within the tour at its restaurant.
A bus ride departs Shiga Kogen for Jigokudani Snow Monkey Park at 12:45 pm. Upon arrival at Kanbayashi Onsen by 1:20 pm, you'll walk to the trail entrance and head to a forest path leading into the park (covering 1.6km/1 mile each way).
At approximately 2:10 pm, depending on your pace along the trail, arrive at Jigokudani Snow Monkey Park for an opportunity to observe these adorable monkeys in their winter environment.
The tour departs from the park by 3:10 pm as your guide leads you back through the forest path. At 4:00 pm, board a bus that starts its journey back towards Nagano.
Concluding between 5:30 and 6:00 pm at Nagano Station, with potential drop-offs in Kanbayashi, Shibu, Yudanaka, or Kokusai along the way. Please be aware that due to winter weather conditions, exact end times may vary; however, you should return to Nagano Station by no later than 6:00 pm.

You'll need your winter jacket, snow boots, and warm clothes for the snowy activities. The experience isn't wheelchair accessible. Be aware that the tour itinerary might be reversed based on weather conditions, road situations, or other factors encountered during the day.
Note: This particular tour doesn’t include skiing or snowboarding since it follows a strict schedule. On rare occasions, monkeys may not visit Jigokudani Snow Monkey Park at all times of the year or leave early from Nagano Snow Monkey Park & Shiga Kogen Maruike Park Day Tour.
If weather or road conditions prevent access to Shiga Kogen, you'll instead be taken to Zenko-ji Temple. Depending on your group's size, transportation varies: smaller groups use an express train service between Nagano Station and Yudanaka Station plus a private vehicle for ski resort transfers; larger groups are accommodated by small tour buses running from/to Nagano Station along with all listed destinations.
