What’s not allowed

• Dress code requires both men and women to wear attire that covers knees and shoulders.
• The monastery does not permit entry in flip-flops.
• Using flash photography, tripods, or selfie sticks is prohibited within the basilica area.
• Photography during services at the monastery is also strictly forbidden.

You cannot enter the basilica while worship activities are ongoing unless you're participating in them.

Accessibility

• The majority of the monastery's areas can be accessed by wheelchair users.
• Access to the Black Madonna is not available for individuals using wheelchairs or with limited mobility.

Venture onto both the train and rack railway, which are designed to accommodate visitors with reduced mobility.

• The FGC Plaça Espanya ticket office operates from 8:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., where you must exchange your tickets before beginning the journey.
• Your selected time slot pertains specifically to access for viewing the Black Madonna.
• Note that the first train departs Barcelona at 8:36am; booking slots prior to 10 a.m. requires alternative transport arrangements due to the commute duration of approximately 1.5 hours.
• The Escolania Choir will not perform during specific dates including from June 25th to August 20th, on August 29th, September 1st-3rd, October 2nd, 3rd and 6th, as well as November 24th.
• You have the flexibility to explore other areas of the monastery at your leisure pace.
• When scheduling a visit for Black Madonna viewing, consider both travel time from Barcelona and the uphill walk required to reach the site.
• To ensure an uninterrupted experience, plan to catch a train no later than 1.5 hours before your scheduled slot.
• The Tabernacle of Our Lady remains closed during services for prayer quietude.
• Upon booking tickets, you will receive instructions on how to download the audio guide.

Mass at the Basilica is conducted Monday through Saturday at 11am, and on holidays including Sundays at 9:30 am.
