Why watch I'm Sorry, Prime Minister
Slip back into the wonderfully bureaucratic world of Jim Hacker and Sir Humphrey in the last act of Britain’s most enduring political satire. Written and directed by Jonathan Lynn, co-creator of Yes Minister, this new stage production revisits beloved characters in their twilight years, confronting retirement, relevance, and responsibility.
In the present day, I'm Sorry Prime Minister features Hacker and Appleby moving from Downing Street to Oxford academia, where old rivalries resurface and new truths come to light. With decades of catchphrases and chaos behind them, can this legendary duo still outwit the system one last time?
A twelve-week limited run, this Apollo Theatre run follows its world premiere at the Barn Theatre in Cirencester and offers a fitting tribute to the late Antony Jay. A must-see for fans of classic British wit and those who never stopped asking: “Yes, Prime Minister?”
The Story
Jim Hacker, the former Prime Minister, has retired to a posh Oxford college bearing his name. But when his lifetime role as Master is threatened due to a dinner speech scandal, he calls upon his old nemesis-turned-friend, Sir Humphrey Appleby. Together, they navigate the traps of cancel culture, generational divides, and their own fading grip on power. Book your tickets for British bureaucratic shenanigans once again!
