Getting started

Your tour begins with pickup from your Hervey Bay accommodation. After check-in, board the ferry to K’gari (Fraser Island), where your local guide will welcome you and begin the journey across one of the world’s most unique sand islands.

What to expect

• Central Station & Wanggoolba Creek: Stroll through the rainforest, where the creek is so clear you’ll think it’s glass. It's peaceful, green, and great for spotting wildlife.

• Lake McKenzie: Swim in glassy blue waters and sink your feet into white silica sand. This lake is pure rainwater and is picture-perfect.

• Seventy-Five Mile Beach: Cruise down K’gari’s famous beach highway with epic ocean views, beachside landings, and a few wild dingo sightings if you’re lucky.

• Eli Creek: Float or wade down this lazy, freshwater stream that winds through rainforest. It’s cool, clear, and the perfect mid-morning refresher.

• Maheno Shipwreck: See the rusted skeleton of a once-grand ship, left here by a cyclone in 1935. It’s haunting, photogenic, and packed with history.

• Pile Valley: Walk beneath massive satinay trees that rise out of pure sand. It’s a quiet rainforest pocket that feels totally untouched.

• Lake Wabby: Hike over the Hammerstone Sandblow to find this deep green lake tucked between dunes and forest. Great for a swim, a rest, or a photo stop.

• Champagne Pools: Soak in wave-fed rock pools that fizz like bubbly. It’s the only safe spot to swim on the ocean side.

• Comfortable island stay: Stay overnight at K’gari Beach Resort in your selected room. All room options include modern comforts just steps from the beach.

• Meals and more included: Fuel up with breakfast, daily morning tea, a picnic lunch, and a lunch at the resort. Round-trip ferry tickets, hotel transfers, park fees, fuel levies, and access to a multilingual app (English, Spanish, French, Italian, German & Chinese) are all part of your tour.

• Bring your swimsuit, towel, sunglasses, hat, walking shoes, sunscreen, medication, insect repellent, water bottle & a camera.

• Pregnant women and guests with back or neck issues are advised to consult a doctor before booking this tour due to the island’s rough terrain and sand tracks.

• Guests under 18 must be accompanied by a paying adult.

• Guests traveling with children under 8 must bring their own car seats. If unavailable, contact the operator for assistance.

• This tour offers round-trip transfers from select hotels in Hervey Bay. Please select the hotel name during the time of booking.
