From there, cross the iconic Wilmot Pass by coach, where you’ll be treated to breathtaking views of Fiordland’s untouched wilderness. At Deep Cove, board the Fiordland Wanderer, a charming vessel designed with traditional scow influences. Settle into the cozy viewing decks as your nature guide shares fascinating commentary about the local wildlife and history. Watch for bottlenose dolphins, fur seals lounging on rocky shores, and perhaps even the rare Fiordland crested penguin.

Dive into Fiordland’s magic

As you sail through the majestic fiords, explore the pristine shoreline by kayak or tender boat, or simply relax onboard. If you’re feeling adventurous, take a dip in the fiord’s cool waters. Afterward, indulge in a freshly prepared 3-course dinner in the dining saloon and unwind with a drink from the fully licensed bar (at your expense). Later, head up to the top deck for a magical night of stargazing under the crystal-clear Fiordland sky. The next morning, wake up to a hearty cooked breakfast, ready to soak in the final views of this remote paradise. You’ll then return to Deep Cove and make the scenic journey back across Wilmot Pass and Lake Manapouri, bringing your unforgettable Doubtful Sound adventure to a close.

What to bring

• Bring along your non-slip walking shoes/boots, warm sweater/fleece jacket, sunscreen, sunglasses, lunch and snacks (for the first day), and camera for the experience.

• Bring along your waterproof jacket, change of clothes, and insect repellent for water activities.

• Pack your meds – better to be prepared, just in case they’re not available onsite.

Accessibility

• Due to the multi-leg journey and floating wharf access, guests will need to have a reasonable level of mobility.
