Rig Climb Experience

What to Expect
- What you can expect -Step aboard Cutty Sark, the world’s last surviving 19th-century tea clipper, built in 1869. Known for its incredible speed, it was one of the fastest ships of its time, playing a key role in the tea trade between China and Britain. After a fire in 2007, the ship underwent an extensive six-year restoration and reopened to the public in 2012, offering a fascinating glimpse into the golden age of sail. As you explore the ship’s historic interior, you'll learn about the dangers, adventures, and daily life of the crew. Interactive exhibits bring to life the ship’s storied past, while you can touch the original structure and explore where precious cargo was stored in the lower hold. Don’t miss the towering masts and rigging, which stretch over 11 miles, providing a striking reminder of the ship’s power and beauty. • Afternoon Tea There's no better place to enjoy afternoon tea than beneath the iconic Cutty Sark, the ship that brought the finest teas to London. Treat yourself to a selection of sweet delights, including lemon drizzle cake, almond and pistachio macaroons, and homemade raisin scones with clotted cream and strawberry jam. Enjoy delicious finger sandwiches and a variety of teas. You can also choose to explore the ship before or after your meal for a complete experience. Please check Afternoon Tea Menu for ordering and choose from specific set.• Rig Climb ExperienceFor the first time since the Cutty Sark arrived in Greenwich in 1954, visitors can climb the rigging of the Cutty Sark! Experience what it would have been like to sail this historic ship. Your Rig Climb Experience starts with a briefing under the ship’s stunning hull, where you’ll learn about safety and what it was like to live and work onboard the Cutty Sark. Then it’s time to step onto the ship’s ‘ratlines’ (rope ladders) and make your way up the rigging, just like hundreds of sailors did.
