What to bring

• Ensure you wear comfortable shoes with good traction, as the stone floor can be damp and slightly slippery.
• A light jacket or shawl is advisable since it remains great underground even on warm days.
• If using an audio guide app, bring wired headphones because Bluetooth connectivity may not work well underground.

Make sure your phone battery is fully charged for taking photos and accessing the audio guide (no charging stations are available inside).

What's not allowed

• Flash photography is prohibited.
• Tripods and selfie sticks are banned due to space and safety issues.

Eating, drinking, and smoking are strictly forbidden within the cistern.

Accessibility

• The site offers partial accessibility; a lift is available near Alemdar Street's exit close to the tram line. However, paths inside may be uneven in some areas.
• Wheelchair users might require assistance, especially around corners or where lighting is low.

No elevators are present within the cistern and seating options are very limited.

• Your ticket permits skipping the queue at the entrance but all visitors must undergo a security check upon arrival.
• To avoid crowds from cruise ship tours, consider visiting early in the morning or later in the evening.
• Making sure to explore both angles of the Medusa heads hidden in a far corner will enhance your experience.
• Note that the exit is on a different street than where you entered; be aware of your location before entering.

The lighting inside is intentionally dim, so allow some time for your eyes to adjust to improve visibility and photography conditions.
