If you are looking to escape the hustle and bustle of Auckland to a magical world, then this guided tour is just for you. Your tour starts with your hotel pickup from Auckland and heading towards the famous Hobbiton movie set. Enjoy the blue rivers and scenic views of the Kaimai range on the way. Once you reach the location, hop on a bus with your Hobbiton guide to get to the set. Who knows, you might catch sight of some sheep! Spread across 1,250 acres near Matamata, explore the beautiful paths dotted with hobbit homes, learn about the set’s creation, and enter a furnished Hobbit hole to see how a hobbit lives. Enjoy a refreshing ginger beer or cider at the Green Dragon In and a delicious banquet lunch at the Party Marquee.

A peek into Maori culture

After Hobbiton, the tour continues to Te Puia, a geothermal and cultural park in Rotorua, where you can spot bubbling mud pools and the impressive Pōhutu geyser, which erupts up to 20 times a day. During the evening, enjoy a Māori cultural performance, which includes a Pōhiri (Traditional Māori Welcome), Waiata (Song), Mōteatea (traditional chant), Poi, and Haka at Te Aronui a Rua. Lastly, enjoy a delicious Hangi dinner buffet at the Pātaka Kai Restaurant, Bar, and Cafe before getting dropped at your hotel in Rotorua.

• Due to venue restrictions, pets are not allowed on this experience.

Accessibility

• This experience is wheelchair and pram/ stroller accessible. 

• Your guide dogs are welcome on the bus.

Additional Information

• Facilities: Free Wi-Fi and toilets.

• Children below 14 years must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 years or over.

• Each guest is limited to one carry-on item with dimensions not exceeding 20 cm high x 28cm deep with a maximum length of 400mm. The maximum weight is 5kg.

• Please note that this is a one-way trip from Auckland to Rotorua and that the guests will be dropped off at their hotels in Rotorua after their evening Te Puia experience.
