Each infant must have a child's rail pass when they travel alone or use reserved seats.

A rail pass is only available to adults age 12 or older when an exchange order is issued or purchased.

Rail pass holders can accompany up to two infants (1-5 years old) for free.

There are separate Child's rail passes for the infants from the third one.

There is no charge for accompanying babies under the age of one.

When using a rail pass, a passport must be carried and presented when asked.

Rail passes are void if magnetic tickets are detached from rail passbooks.

Passports with a "Temporary Visitor" Visa stamp on them are eligible for this offer. These products cannot be used by non-Japanese passport holders with permanent residence in Japan.
